Today’s M-W Word of the Day provides a fitting way to begin this blog, a daily writing exercise based on a single word or phrase. Of course, today’s word, QWERTY, is the name for standard keyboards in the US; today I learned that the order of the keys on this standard keyboard was designed to slow down typists, whose fast fingers would often jam other writing machines, but would still be more advantageous than using a pen. So, my hope is that this blog allows me to write more often than I might otherwise, but that it does not jam the writing mechanism of my brain.
